Hi all,
We went camping over the easter long weekend by the banks of the mighty Murray just outside of Echuca. It was a gorgeous spot and the weather was absolutely sensational. Lils and Burns had competition to see who would win the title of filthiest dog but they were both outdone by Rusty who was by far the most dishevelled of the lot!
The puppies had a great time feasting on all the left over food from breakfast, lunch and dinner. They ate half a chicken between them and spent an entire morning happily eating the dirt where the grease from the camp oven had been tipped. So much for their strictly controlled diets, I gave up in the end and decided that they could have an easter blow out like the rest of us, what with the chips and dips and drinks and bee-stings from the bakery (town was only 15 minutes away).
There was plenty of swimming to be had (puppies included) - it was a bit chilly, the mud came up to our knees and a supposed algal bloom was meant to keep everyone out of the water but it was really nice to have a wash! Though I'm not sure of the environmental impact of a whole bunch of girls washing their hair in the river, I should mention that the dogs got a good going over with the shampoo too not that they managed to stay clean for long.
Bobbi and Ben brought the boat and Ben caught a nice big fat Murray Cod which we guilted him into releasing but unfortunately (for the fish) it was too late and it was decided that the only decent thing to do would be to clean him up and eat him for lunch (the fish not Ben), he was very tasty.
It was nice to get away from the city and relax in the bush for a few days, though coming back is hard work I am still pulling prickles out of the dogs fur, I'm afraid their long fluffy tails had to go needless to say they now look really silly (well even more silly than before).
I had fun taking pictures of pretty much every man and his dog. I will post them on picasa. Have a great Greek Easter and we'll talk to you soon.
Love
